Intersection
Accessory design combining traditional fabrication process and 3D printing

Overview
Introduction
Creature Of Creation was one of the first brands introducing 3d printing technology into China. When the project started, COC is already a very professional 3d-printing service provider in B2B, but they still want to seek some new possibilities in B2C business environment.
Hence, as an intern of Product Design, I individually achieve to design a new series of accessory combining traditional fabrication processes and 3d printing with a reasonable price for consumers.
Client
Creature Of Creation,Co.,Ltd.
Field Work
At first stage I learnt traditional jewellery fabrication process and handcraft to understand advantages and disadvantages of them. I found that most of traditional jewellery and accessory are full of curves and inlays deriving from natural aesthetics, but the aesthetics from mathematic geometry is hard to achieve with traditional wax carving handcraft.

Brand DNA
Polygonal shapes constitute visual identity of this brand, as per their digital fabrication business. Therefore, I came up with an idea, integrating their branding visual language into mathematic geometry shapes, to empathise the advantages in 3d-printed accessory.

Concept
Tangible shapes in geometry,
Intangible experiences in life,
Intersection and impermanence are everywhere.
The slogan of this series was originally in Chinese because of market place. In Chinese culture, “intersection” is a word with double meaning. It also means frustration and opportunity in changeable environment.
The form was inspired by basic shapes in geometry and brand DNA. It also stands for bravery against frustration as self-identity of potential client.

Cooperation with ONE

On December 05, 2015, INTERSECTION was recommended on an app named “ONE”. ONE is a brand founded by a Chinese famous author, Han Han. They also cooperated with COC and sold my series in their pop-up stores later.
