Step-by-step development in electronic devices attached to smart home system

​Introduction
In this project, I worked as a freelance industrial designer in long-term cooperation with Move Tech. My responsibilities are to design product appearance for their different modules, and also, discussing with engineers closely about potential technological & structural feasibility to co-create comprehensive product-service.

System Components
Automatic home control system is a new trend in current Chinese society. Our goals is to make modules interact with users, meanwhile we try to enhance efficiency with lower cost, in order that hotels and families in a private apartment can deploy their smart home individually and quickly.

Currently there are 5 devices have been in development, namely outdoor weather station, indoor screen & controller, gesture controller, motion sensor switches and normal touch switches.
Outdoor Weather Station
Previously they already got orders of the simplest version of this module. During our collaboration, we redesigned its appearance including modular structure, so that in further development it could expand its functions as a growable product.
Indoor Screen & Controller
Hung on wall indoor, it is a controller touchscreen displaying normal conditions about weather, security, and entertainment, embedded with infrared transponder.
The screen could also be used as the charger for Gesture Controller, which can be hung on it because of magnet for charging and both screens can interact with each other.

Motion Sensor Switches
With infrared transponder in it, motion sensor switches can detect human body, then control devices and security system automatically, according to previous setting of users. Customers can design their home system according to their own preference.
Normal Touch Switches
Bridging Original Appliance and R2
Considered that not all users would buy comprehensive product line of R2 Smart Home System in some circumstances, we offer a choice that they can use normal switches instead of completely automatic control.
Tailor-made for Hotels or Companies
Most of high-level clubhouses or hotels want their interior appliances contain their own brand identity. Because production technology of touch switch is mainly silk-screen printing, we can provide tailor-made service to those clients.
